Peaceful morrrrrrrning ....

Image
30th April 2022 (Saturday)      07.00.... it’s warmer than I expected it to be this 'Dod'. early ....the garden thermometer is showing 8C so I’ll get the bike out to go for the paper.... and buy a scarecrow map.   Just now there’s a light breeze off the East.... with a ‘slight chance of precipitation’ (light showers) later in the afternoon so a bonnie day albeit with more cloud around.    10.00    It’s a lovely ‘go out to play’ morning:   and I did.     I’ve been for the paper (and scarecrow map) then down to the harbour.... on the bike.    There’s a light breeze off the sea;   it’s cool but not cold.    I met ‘Dod’ going for his paper;   this event has been recorded for posterity.    I’m going to have another cuppa before having a walk down to the beach. Barbara. 18.00   Instead of going to the beach I louped onto the bike and went up to Chapel Green;  this is the second time out on the bike today so I’ll be sair tomorrow.    I haven’t done much biking over the past four week

Overcast and cool ....

29th April 2022 (Friday)      09.00 ....the sky is overcast just now, but the sun should that off by late morning; I certainly hope it does ‘cos I want to go out on the bike today, and right now it’s too cauld for me biking.     Super yacht ‘St Nicolas’ is on her way to Leith this morning;   unfortunately there’s low mist, she is white, and moving up the south side o’ the Firth so no photographs of her this morning.    I hope to catch her on the way out.     She was owned by Vasily Anisimov (Russian billionaire) but he sold her in 2017.     I don’t know who is the present owner, but she can be chartered;   which is most likely why she is now heading for Leith.     I wonder who has chartered her? 14.00    After a dullish (and cool) morning we have a lovely, warm afternoon;  yep... I shall take a turn up to Chapel Green;  after a cuppa to waken me up.   Oh dear ... you won’t believe this:  last night I was watching ‘New Tricks’ and it finished at 23.40.... which is late for me.   Well

Bright and sunny....

28th April 2022 (Thursday)      07.30 .... There is a touch of frost on the car windscreen, but we have a ‘bright and sunny’ morning so the frost will rapidly lift:   it looks like being a bonnie day, with a light onshore breeze.    So.... probably cool on the beach.    A good day for going out on the bike;   in the late afternoon. 11.30    Blood taken, appointments organised, photos taken;   a successful and happy morrrrrrrrning.     It’s a beautiful day.... and warm;   even at the harbour.      The washing I hung out first thing should dry.... even in the light breeze we have just now.   I’ll get the bike out in the late afternoon (after lunch).    21.00    The aforementioned washing dried in what turned out to be a light, but cold, onshore breeze in the afternoon:  a big change from the morrrrrrrrning. Kirsty, Myra and I enjoyed lunch at ‘The Rockies’;  Geoff was feeling under the weather and decided not to go.   The three of us had Battered ‘addock and very tasty it was too...

Romantic morning ....

27th April 2022 (Wednesday)     09.00 .... I had an early morning walk to the Wedding marquee. beach, on what is a pleasant, but slightly cloudy morning.   There’s only a light breeze so it isn’t as cold as it has been of late;  but I won’t dig out the sun cream yet.  The beach was busy for that time of morning;  with dog walkers on a huge beach.   The tide was full out. We have a ‘Royal Burgh’ wedding this weekend;   the marquee is being set up, and I am already in a state o’ excitement, with something new to photograph.    I hope the weather is fine. 17.00     Being ‘confined’ to the house for most of the day is frustrating’ (especially on a bonnie day like today);   but I manage to fine ‘ousework to do (not much) in between doing Soduko’s in the Hutte and research on the computer.     Oh.... and doing breathing exercises (4 times daily) .... and falling asleep in various places.     I’ve been checking the weather forecast for the next few days;   the wind direction is due to chan

Interesting sky ....

26th April 2022 (Tuesday)    08.00 .... there’s been some rain overnight;  in fact it was raining at 05.30 so I went back to bed,.... and eventually got ‘up’ at 06.30.   It’s a bonnie morning now, though there are some shower clouds around;  but they make the sky interesting....as long as they are ‘over there and not here’.   At the moment they look a bit too near ‘here’ for my likin’.  The light wind is mostly from the NNE this morning... and cool. 11.00    ‘The Boy’ has been busy.   With the sky being mostly overcast,.... and spits and spots o’ rain, I decided to go to Leven to do some shopping.   The roads were busy (they mostly always are nowadays- compared to pre COVID).... but the mission was accomplished in ‘nae time’.    Both the shops I visited were quiet.   The ‘Master Plan’ for the remainder of the day is to have a walk to the beach .... after morrrrrrrrrrrrrning coffee and if there’s nae spits and spots o’ rain.    We should have sunny spells in the afternoon. 21.00     We

Early morning shower(s)....

25th April 2022 (Monday)      08.00 ....There was a bothersome shower passing over when I was at the beach;  not heavy enough to put the camera away but heavy enough to have to keep wiping the lens.  ‘Light cloud with a gentle breeze ‘ is the forecast for KY9, so I was surprised by the rain.... but showers always mean interesting clouds so I was happy.  The beach was quiet.... that was at 06.15. 17.00    Jings....it has been a lovely day, and the cool ESE breeze kept the temperature from rocketing up to ‘sun cream’ levels.   Actually I decided to have a ‘rest day’... even though I think I have shaken off the after effects of the latest ‘jab’;  I felt ‘normal me’ for the first in a while. In the morning I watched ‘Das Boot’, a German made film about life aboard a submarine in 1941.    It’s a bit like ‘All Quiet on the Western Front’ was to WW1;   about people having to do a job, at the bidding of political ‘masters’, and realising that they were just being used by said ‘masters’.

Bright and breezy ....

24th April 2022 (Sunday)     10.00 ....I’ve been to the harbour;  in fact I’ve been to Elie and St Monans harbours.... it’s a harbour kind of mornin’.   I did think of going to Crail but I was hungry and ready for breakfast.... and a cuppa.   And ....I surprised myself....  by remembering to go for the paper!    Slight ‘flap on’ now.... I have a washing to hang out;   before  morrrrrrrrning coffee. 16.00    I’m glad that I did the harbours in the morning;  when the wind freshened I cancelled any plans regarding going out again, and did Soduko’s in The Hutte.   Then, after the sky began to cloud over, I abandoned The Hutte and settled down in front of the tele.   I’ve had a quiet day.   Oh I did the washing, and have been drawing so it hasn’t been entirely wasted:  actually I’m kinda stuck until the wind changes direction.   In the meantime I must  keep up to date with Boris’ tomfoolery, so.... I’m going to read the paper. 21.30    I didn’t bother reading about Boris....I get the fee

23rd April 2022 (Saturday)     07.00 ....  I wish all my friends south of ra border Gannets feeding near Ocean Valiant. a “Happy St George’s Day” on this ‘bright and breezy’ morning.    The wind is from the Northeast so it’s not very warm in the wind, but will be very cosy in The Hutte.    I’m taking a turn up to Chapel Green on the bike after this update.....actually I might to a ‘roond o’ the villages’ if the wind isn’t too cold.   09.00    I couldn’t do ‘roond the villages' because the bike battery was low;   but my word it was lovely out there.    It is chilly but even on a chilly day, bumbling round Elie and Earlsferry is magical.   Having been out I’d say that the wind is certainly ‘brisk’... in fact I’d go for ‘very frisky’.    I’m ready for breakfast now, before deciding what to do next:   I’m thinking Balcarres (in the car). 21.30    Balcarres in the car?.... when the pollen count is ‘High’?.....   not one of my best ideas.   Luckily I thought of that and didn’t go;  but

22nd April 2022 (Friday)    09.00 ....I wondered where the haar was this morning then realised that the wind had backed to the NNE and the haar would be further south.   It’s a nice morning though cool in the brisk wind.   The paper has been uplifted, the harbour checked, the ‘broon bucket’ emptied and I’m feeling ‘almost frightfully frisky’;  all is good at Elie and Earlsferry.   16.30   In spite of the brisk wind has been a lovely day;  and I have enjoyed it.   It was a bit breezy to go out on the bike so I’ve had a lazy day.... though I might go out in the evening once the streets are quieter.   My asthma (pollen) kicked in about 09.30 so I was confined to Ivy for most of the day:  however the breathing is settling down again, hence the ‘plan’ to (maybe) go out in the evening.   This morning I had fallen asleep in front of the tele and sort of thought I heard the doorbell.     On answering the door (I must have looked half asleep... in fact more than half) I was pleasantly surpri

Early morning fog ....

21st April 2022 (Thursday)     08.30 ....The sun will burn back the haar we have just now and we will have a bonnie day; though there will be a cool breeze off the sea.    Well I’m feeling brighter this morning;   but I have to say that my second booster jab (the first time I’ve had Pfizer) did have ‘the day after side effects’.    After the previous three jabs I had a slight headache for a couple of hours the next day;   but yesterday I had the headache and my eyeballs were all over the place.    Anyway I’m feeling positive today (and my eyeballs are doing what they should do):   the test will be doing a ‘Diabolical Soduko’. 16.30    I am near enough over the ‘side effects’ of the jab;  I even did a wee bit of weeding.   That said I am tired now but I intend going up to Chapel Green, on the bike, once the work traffic (and there’s a lot o’ that) is off the road.   It has been a nice day; pleasantly warm away from the wind.    I passed the ‘diabolical’ Soduko test, so I am a happy b

20th April 2022 (Wednesday )    07.30 ....I’m feelin’ fairly frolicsome;  which isnae bad after a restless night;  my arm was tender at the injection site and I kept waking up.   The arm feels fine now that I’m vertical, but I know what’s going to happen when I sit down to watch the ‘News’ after lunch. We have a bonnie start to the day but there’s a cool breeze orf the sea;   that said, it will be warm when sheltered from said breeze.     My ‘plan’ is to potter around the garden in the afternoon.   20.00    I was a week early for my blood test appointment, which I am happy about ‘cos yesterday’s jab has upset my routine completely.    This the first time I’ve had Pfizer jab and I ain’t likin’ it.   At least my arm is no longer sore so I should get a good night’s sleep. I enjoyed the ‘istory Society cuppa at the Pav;   there’s always something interesting talked about.    When I set off to come home I left my camera bag on the ground;   it was right where I left it when I went bac

Crackin' mornin' ....

19th April 2022 (Tuesday)      08.30 ....It’s a magical Elie and Earlsferry morning;  I’d go out on the bike if I wasn’t going for the booster jab.  (if I went out on the bike I’d promptly forget about the ‘jab’).   The weather  forecast is good for the whole day so I should get out in the afternoon.    I’ll take a few shots of Methil when I’m at the Randolph Wemyss.   Jim and I recorded a number of churches along there but, apart from the docks, I’ve never looked at ‘Methil’ through the lens of the camera.   I’ll see how I feel after the ‘jab’;  might need to find a coffee stop.   In fact I'll take a mug of my own 'Supreme Quality' with me.   The only coffee stop I know in Methil is the Heritage Centre and I don't think it will be 'Open' today. 16.30     I had a good trip to the Randolph Wemyss:   I actually arrived 20 minutes early but being early didn’t make any difference and I was ‘boosted’, and resting in a waiting room for 5 minutes before bumbling my wa

18th April 2022 (Monday)     07.30 ....I’m feeling ‘bright eyed and bushy tailed’ this morning, but won’t go out on the bike until later;  after the sun has driven off the early morning clouds.   There’s a brisk westerly breeze, and it’s going to be reasonably warm, so I’ll make for Kinneuchar....then home via Elie Estate.  09.30    I’m glad that I took the car to go for the paper (forgot the paper);  we have some heavy showers around, and I drove through one at Balbuthie.... on the way home from the harbour.   The ‘plan’ was to pick up the paper on the way home from the harbour but I forgot that and went home by Kinneuchar.   I’ll get the paper when I’m out on the bike.   The showers are supposed to move away by late morrrrrrrning. 19.30    We’ve had bonnie day;  and I never went out on the bike:  what I did do was take the car for a decent run to charge up the battery.   The furthest it has been in the last six months is Anstruther or Leven.   Today I went to Crail – then the ‘back r

17th April 2022 (Sunday)    10.30 .... I was ‘up and out’ before the pollen this morning;  and enjoyed a good run out on the bike, on what is a quiet, peaceful, slightly cloudy but warm, start  to the day;  this is the first decent run on the bike since I came back from Auchnagatt.   The bike battery is being charged so I might go out in the afternoon .... but that depends on how busy the roads are.   I can report that all is good at Elie and Earlsferry..... and there’s a beach (and water) needin’ tae be played on. 21.30   I’ve had a quiet Easter weekend;  an enjoyable and restful weekend in fact.     The villages have been really busy this Easter weekend;  I imagine that the beach would have been busy this afternoon.   That said the Easterly breeze freshened after lunch and it was quite cool.   It was also a brilliant drying wind and my ‘oliday washing (which I did this morning) is ready for ironing. I spent most of the afternoon drawing and.... watching a ‘The Ten Commandments” (1

Peaceful morning

16th April 2022 (Saturday)      08.00 ....It’s one of those lovely early Spring mornings... you know;    a bit of mist and a touch of romance in the air, a magical mixture.    I’ve been for the paper and to the harbour... in the car.    The car battery is fully charged so I can relax and enjoy our wee villages.;   I’ll go out on the bike after morrrrrrrrrrrning coffee. 18.30    This has been a bonnie day;  and a quiet one for me.... in fact let’s call it a ‘super rest day’.   I enjoyed morning tea and chat with Alistair, Claire and ‘The Troops’ at ‘Balvonie’.   Alistair and Claire have done a load of work both inside and outside ‘Balvonie’;  this gave me the urge to ‘work’.   I went back to Ivy full of ‘plans’. Back at Ivy I set about organising something for lunch (some kind o’ Chicken ‘Things’) then went out to The Hutte to contemplate the ‘work plan’.     I’ll start the work tomorrow.   As is my norm after lunch I fell asleep in The Hutte.    I’d forgotten to put the bike ‘on c
